10 Things You Didn't Know About WCW In 2000

10. Hogan vs. Russo Debacle Was Initially A Work

Hulk Hogan Bash At The Beach 2000 It's one of the most infamous incidents to ever take place live on WCW Pay-Per-View. Fans looked on baffled as WCW World Champion Jeff Jarrett simply laid on his back, waiting for Hulk Hogan to pin him. Few could make head nor tail of what they were seeing, and it seemed like real life issues from behind the scenes were playing out for all to see. In reality (ha!), the entire thing was orchestrated to appear real by Hogan and Vince Russo, with the idea being that Hulk would pin Jarrett to win the title, before a new belt would be created later in the show. The thinking was that Hogan could then return somewhere down the line, claim he was the real champion, and face the 'other' champ in a Title vs. Title match. Only, things would never get that far. Bash At The Beach 2000 was Hogan's last WCW appearance, because he was later infuriated by a 'shoot' promo Russo cut live on air, calling him - amongst other things - a 'big bald son of a bitch'. This pretty much sums up the disarray in WCW around this time, that something that was initially a 'worked shoot' could actually turn into a completely genuine rivalry.
