10 Things You Didn't Know About WCW In 2000

9. Ric Flair Was Wearing Street Clothes Due To Low Confidence

Throughout the year 2000, Ric Flair pretty much exclusively wrestled in regular clothes, something that was never really questioned by WCW's announcers. Whenever it was brought up, the ringside mouthpieces would simply make something up about Flair meaning business, thus explaining why he wasn't in his trademark trunks. Often dressed in a shirt, dress trousers and dress shoes, the 'Nature Boy' reportedly wore such an outfit to the ring because he was pretty self-conscious at the time. Feeling he didn't have a body worth showing off, Flair elected instead to hide it away, but it did come across as pretty strange that he all of a sudden wasn't wearing his fancy robes when walking the aisle. In May, 2000, the man would win his 16th World Title, a record, and he'd do so wearing his loafers. Needless to say, this was a weird period of Ric Flair's career, and he really seemed to be on auto-pilot for most of the year. Only when he'd return to the WWF/WWE in late-2001 would Flair start to wear trunks again, apparently getting himself in better shape.
