10 Things You Didn't Know About WWE In 1990

6. Brutus Beefcake Was Supposed To Beat Mr Perfect On Two Consecutive Pay-Per-Views

A record befitting of the man himself went up in smoke in 1990 when Brutus Beefcake brought about the end of Mr Perfect's on-screen undefeated streak at WrestleMania VI.

In reality, Curt Hennig's flawless persona had eaten defeat against the likes of Hulk Hogan and The Ultimate Warrior, but Perfect was about to win the Intercontinental Championship for the first time, and the loss to Beefcake existed as much as anything to boost their SummerSlam rematch.

Unfortunately, Ed Leslie wouldn't make the pay-per-view, or any event for a while after a near-fatal parasailing accident completely took him out of action. Perfect arrogantly challenged anybody to take a shot at the summer show, and recent arrival Kerry Von Eric surprisingly dethroned him.

As an additional trivia note, it was also the second time Brutus had gotten the better of an opponent at WrestleMania, and cut their manager's hair, and been set to win the Intercontinental Championship at SummerSlam. In 1988, it was the Honky Tonk Man and Jimmy Hart falling victim to 'The Barber' but an injury angle with Ron Bass was shot to write him off the show and clear the path for the Ultimate Warrior's iconic anointment.

And as for the Texas Tornado back in 1990...
