6. The WWF Had a Working Relationship With SWS In Japan

All throughout 1991, the WWF held jointly promoted matches with the Super World of Sports (SWS) promotion, led primarily by Genichiro Tenryu, who appeared in the WWF at Wrestlemania 7, tagging with former sumo wrestler Koji Kitao. It was Kitao who would have an infamous moment in wrestling history during one of the WWF/SWS shows in 1991. On March 30, during a match with Earthquake, Kitao unexpectedly broke character and began to shoot on Earthquake. The match was quickly thrown out by the referee. After the match, Kitao grabbed the microphone and told the entire crowd that professional wrestling was fake as other wrestlers tried to restrain him.
