1. Randy Savage Lobbied For A Match With Hulk Hogan At WrestleMania XX
Macho Man Randy Savage had been retired for three years by the time Hulk Hogan stepped into the ring to face Vince McMahon at WrestleMania XIX. Perhaps seeing Hogan fighting the boss on the grandest stage inspired Randy to tempt coming out of retirement and challenge the Hulkster himself? Savage spread the word in September that he wanted to face Hogan at WrestleMania XX at Madison Square Garden in 2004. Of course at the time Savage and Hogan had some serious real-life heat (which would come to a head at a TNA event in late 2004). Savage had continually dissed Hogan in interviews and even dedicated a track on his rap album to calling him out. But Savage was apparently serious about the match. Unfortunately, nobody else was. During an episode of internet call-in show Byte This! not long after Savage laid down the challenge, Vice President of Talent Relations Jim Ross nixed the idea, saying that he 'wasn't interested' in seeing it. Still, odds are that some fans would have been interested in seeing it, even if the match itself wouldn't have been anything special due to the condition of both men. Savage really deserved one final big match but, unfortunately, due to issues with Vince, it never happened.
