5. Triple H Not Permitted To Be Shown In a 'Vulnerable Position' In Video Game Promotion
For years, fans and wrestlers alike have been complaining that Triple H has been booked way too strongly and pushed way too hard, to the detriment of the product in some cases. It was especially apparent during The Game's reign of terror in 2002/3 that the boss' son-in-law was being given some serious preferential treatment. The Cerebral Assassin tore through the roster, decisively beating promising up-and-comers like Booker T and Rob Van Dam in the process. The message was clear: Triple H has to look very strong. That message was confirmed in 2008 with a memo sent by WWE and THQ to the world's gaming press. The memo, which was leaked by UK wrestling magazine Fighting Spirit, emphasised that in the new PG climate that publications were not allowed to show screenshots of wrestlers bleeding or using weapons when advertising Smackdown Vs Raw 2009. Hilariously, part of the memo also said that no screenshots were allowed to be used that showed Triple H 'in a defenseless or vulnerable position'. No, WWE wouldn't even let Triple H be pinned in a video game. It caused a great deal of humour online and also created significant heat between WWE and Fighting Spirit.
