8. Finn Bálor Was GLAD To Dodge The Match With "Sister Abigail"

A very long and very silly programme was set to climax at October's Tables, Ladders and Chairs pay-per-view with a pumpkin-looking version of The Demon taking on Bray Wyatt working as a bizarre manifestation of the Sister Abigail character.

The graphic above came from the go-home edition of Monday Night Raw, so late was the change after Wyatt (and others) were chalked off the show following an odd backstage outbreak of mumps.

Scrambling, WWE over-delivered on the replacement, bringing over AJ Styles from SmackDown for a total no-build banger between the two. Speaking on The Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast, Balor noted that he was quietly pleased with how it all turned out. He said:

“I’m happy in hindsight in the sense of what could have been for that show, but like you know with The Demon vs Bray Wyatt and all that kinda wacky storyline that we were doing at the time...and then what it transformed into which was like the match with me and AJ. Obviously, it was unfortunate that three of the boys went down really sick, but I think that you know I was the one who kinda came out with the silver lining on that one.”
