More on Ronda now, or more specifically one of the women left in her shadow following Rousey's surprise debut.

The 2018 Royal Rumble kicked WWE's pay-per-view year off in near-perfect fashion, proffering not only a choice undercard featuring a killer men's Rumble match, but an equally awesome inaugural women's battle royal as the show's main event.

The company haven't been shy about celebrating how historic all of these moments have been, but the WrestleMania ramifications of the Rumble itself instantly ruled out Raw Women's Champion Alexa Bliss and her SmackDown counterpart Charlotte Flair. Both women would defend their titles at the 'Show Of Shows', but it meant sitting out the Rumble itself to await potential challengers.

Flair in particular was less-than-thrilled with how it worked out, noting during a WWE Network special on the match (h/t to Inside The Ropes for the transcription) that;

"I probably had a boo-boo face on. Like, ‘Wait, I’m on camera, don’t have a boo-boo face.’ It’s exciting and the action and movements. I didn’t know what the future was going to hold, but you see these things going down and you hear the crowd reaction and you’re like, ‘Oh, I feel so left out of it.’ At the same time, I had to realize that I was holding what the women want, so ultimately that’s the main goal…the Rumble is for who you’re going to face at Mania, it’s for all these women from the past and present."
