10 Things You Learn Binge Watching Every WWE Raw From 1993

2. Hulk Hogan = Fish Out Of Water

Somehow, it's not as affecting to see Hulk Hogan go.

That's not meant as a dig; the dude writing this had a Hogan lunchbox, for crying out loud, and he still feels nostalgia resonate any time Hulk shows up on WWE programming today. A lot of people don't, and that's fine, but it'd be dismissive to ignore his imprint on the industry or his importance to the promotional machine.

Again though, there's just something empty about Hulk's run in 1993. Whenever he popped up on this journey through the year's programming, it never looked right. The WWF were trying their best to present Raw as a new beginning that'd take them through the rest of the decade - having the literal face of the 80s there ruined that concept.

Fan responses to Hogan inside the Manhattan Center were muted too. By the time he made his final Raw showings for close to nine years in the summer, the reactions were audibly strained. People wanted something new instead of the same old.
