Speaking of things that shouldn't have been on TV.

It'd be untrue to say most tuning into WWE programming back in '04 hated the way women were presented. The fact they were "Divas" more than pro wrestlers was accepted, and that was that. However, women like Lita and Trish Stratus proved there was life beyond this restrictive eye candy branding.

Meanwhile, a beaming Vince McMahon sat with a briefcase full of dollar bills in front of some models and heralded in the beginning of the "Raw Diva Search" on the 24 May episode. Yours truly groaned when he saw this, because he knew he'd be subjected to weekly segments that'd be a pain in the arse.

They were.

The "Diva Search" gobbled up valuable flagship minutes without giving any entertainment back. Christy Hemme would eventually win the thing, not any of the bored-looking models posing behind Vince in late-May. If you're watching old Raws from '04, do yourself a favour - skip these bits.
