10 Things You Learn From Boycotting WWE For One Year
5. John Cena Is Missed (By Me)
Call it Stockholm Syndrome, call it hypocrisy, call it whatever you like. After being bombarded with nothing but Super Cena for the last decade that I watched wrestling, I found it odd returning to the WWE and not seeing him on this edition of Raw. I truly missed the goofy jock and his rainbow t-shirts. Sure he might be the crystallisation of everything wrong that I have been claiming is wrong in WWE. He has ended other wrestlers momentum more than anyone since Hulk Hogan, and he has been the crutch that WWE have ceaselessly turned to when they could have developed talent. But in 2014 they actually made Cena look vulnerable (albeit briefly) and they seemed to be doing something a bit more interesting with him as his career began to wind down. And even though I missed it, I know he was pinned by Owens (an awesome move that seems to have been wasted by those in charge) and he gave up the US Championship to Alberto Del Rio clean recently (by the way how the hell did Alberto Del Rio come back after what happened?). This is exactly what fans wanted from Cena. Additionally though, I never really hated Cena. I completely understand why everyone does, and I cant give any logical reason for why I might like the guy and enjoy seeing him. But I think its just because I grew up with Hogan in his position and unlike Cena, Hogan was a horrible human being. Say what you will about the way WWE have handled the booking of John Cena - the man himself seems like a true champion of an individual. Okay it was only temporary, but still. After a year way I actually missed Cena. I understand completely if this means you need to express your hate in the comments.
