It seems not a year can go by without wrestling fans in Great Britain bemoaning the fact that WWE haven't held a major pay-per-view in the country since SummerSlam 1992. Each year, rumours circulate that it's about to happen, but time differences with North American have often crushed such chatter.

Back in '92, the then-WWF didn't have to worry about people in the United States knowing what happened on the show. Aired a few days after being taped, SummerSlam could occur without fear of the internet giving away results. In the early-1990's, an online presence wasn't something the WWF had.

Even with the internet, it still would have been a good idea for SummerSlam to come to the UK. Some 80,000 fans packed into the old Wembley Stadium in London, England, an attendance figure that even smashed the approximate 62,000 WrestleMania VIII had managed to pull in.

Dubbed 'The SummerSlam You Never Thought You'd See', the show was the most spectacular one of the year in terms of presentation. Fans went crazy for every wrestler, treating even mid card acts like superstars.
