The headliner going into WrestleMania IX in 1993 was Yokozuna vs. Bret Hart. Fast-forward to WrestleMania X, that match went on last once more. Technically, Hulk Hogan's victory over Yoko concluded the '93 event, but Bret Hart's attempted title defence was the last proper match. In '94, it was once again.

Hart had noticeably struggled to pull anything worthwhile from his gargantuan foe in '93. It's a damning verdict of Lex Luger's failure to catch fire as a top babyface that Vince McMahon went with the same match again to headline the following year's supershow. Bret Hart or not, the main event couldn't top what had come before.

Shawn Michaels and Razor Ramon put on one of the best matches in WrestleMania history right before Bret vs. Yoko. The first WWF pay-per-view to feature a Ladder Match, fans must have been exhausted after the thrills and spills the Intercontinental Title men treated them to.

Watching 'Mania X again makes it even more glaring that Hart and Yokozuna couldn't end the show on a higher note. Bret's title win was still massive, but it couldn't top what had preceded it.
