10 Things You Learn From Watching 1994 On The WWE Network
4. Razor Ramon Vs. Diesel At SummerSlam Is An Overlooked Classic
1995 would mark the year during which 'The Kliq' really began taking charge of what was happening in the WWF. Diesel, Razor Ramon and Shawn Michaels were the ringleaders, and they used their power to look out for the likes of Sean 'The 1-2-3 Kid' Waltman and Triple H. The year before, the group's influence wasn't as strong.
Still, it must have been fun for Diesel and Ramon to face off come SummerSlam over the WWF Intercontinental Title. The seeds were being sown for that Kliq domination of the product, but on the evidence of the SummerSlam match it's hard to argue that quality still came first.
In the Summer of '94, Diesel was still rough around the edges. Revisiting the match (one that had Shawn Michaels and NFL legend Walter Payton at ringside) makes it obvious that Razor was carrying things. This doesn't mean that the bout isn't worthwhile, because it really is.
Hardly anybody talks about Diesel vs. Razor Ramon in glowing terms nowadays, it's one match that has almost been forgotten. Compared to Ramon's Intercontinental Title matches to come against the likes of Jeff Jarrett, the Diesel scrap fares very well.
