10 Things You Learn From Watching 1995 On The WWE Network
3. Bret Hart's Table Bump At Survivor Series Remains Satisfying
There's a crystal clear contrast between how Bret Hart and Diesel approached WWF Heavyweight Title matches at the Royal Rumble in January, 1995 and Survivor Series that November. Fighting to a draw at the Rumble, it came across loud and clear that Diesel wasn't yet comfortable in his role as champion.
Come Survivor Series, the big man had loosened up a little. Aided by a No Disqualification stipulation, the pair were able to construct a much more satisfying encounter. Making use of chairs and tables, weapons which weren't exactly commonplace in the cartoon realm of the WWF in 1995, Diesel and Hart produced a main event to be proud of.
By far the most visually stunning moment came when Bret was sent crashing through the Spanish announce table. Standing on the ring apron, he was bounced by Diesel from relative safety, thumping through the table with a satisfying crunch.
Table bumps didn't happen often in the WWF during the mid-90's. That knowledge, and the excitement of the live crowd over what had happened, really help Hart's fall stand out. There's still something pleasing about it today.
