The introduction of Hell In A Cell as a standalone pay-per-view in 2009 has badly diluted the gimmick bout's appeal; without question, the knowledge that WWE will shoe horn in at least one Cell encounter to fit the name of the show diminishes that spontaneous feel, a similar fate suffered by the likes of Elimination Chamber.

There was a time when Hell In A Cell matches weren't booked to please the pay-per-view calendar, and that only makes it more surprising to learn that the first three events were all headlined by the infamous cage match.

As aforementioned, DX's Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker clashed at In Your House: Badd Blood in 1997, but that wouldn't be the last Cell match; Bad Blood was brought back in June, 2003, and the main event would end up being Triple H vs. Kevin Nash inside the Cell, all before Triple H and Michaels faced off in the same match one year later in 2004.

Given that WWE already have a Hell In A Cell pay-per-view each year, it's unlikely the return of Bad Blood will continue that main event tradition.
