10 Times You Almost Quit Watching Wrestling

9. When Bret Hart Was Screwed At Survivor Series 1997

It's one of the most famous matches in wrestling history. Bret Hart left WWE in November of 1997 at the Survivor Series because he didn't know that Vince McMahon, Shawn Michaels and others were going to have him lose the match in a surprising manner. We all know the story. Whether you think Bret screwed Bret or Vince screwed Bret, it happened and it changed the business. When Bret was gone from WWE, he was buried pretty hard by management. They painted him as a guy that was difficult to work with and Vince went on to become the most hated heel in the business. Some fans were really upset by it, though. They were fans that grew up with Bret Hart as their wrestling hero. The idea that WWE would disrespect somebody that meant so much to the company really showed that WWE was willing to do anything to anybody to try to get ahead. The fallout from that very real event was felt throughout the wrestling business as Bret moved over to WCW and for a brief time was a big name there, but it didn't really prove to be a huge success for WCW either. The argument against this being included is that WWE went on to do record business in the next three years that followed this. However, there were still a lot of people upset about what happened to Hart just because of how much he meant to the fans that watched him for so many years.
