10 Times Awesome WWE Matches Became Nightmares
7. Seth Rollins Vs Sting - Night Of Champions 2015
Sting’s WWE debut at Survivor Series 2014 put the wrestling world on tilt.
Fans had been waiting for him to show up in WWE to battle The Undertaker since Vince McMahon bought WCW in 2001. However, The Icon’s short time in WWE was a rollercoaster ride that almost ended in disaster.
Sting’s debut set up a feud with Triple H instead of The Deadman, which upset those clamoring for the dream match. The feud culminated in a loss to The Game at WrestleMania 31, which was overshadowed by the nWo and DX interfering at the end of the match.
Sting returned later in the year to challenge Seth Rollins for the WWE Championship. During their Night of Champions 2015 encounter, Rollins executed a dangerous buckle bomb which, badly injured Sting’s neck. The closing moments were difficult to watch as Rollins did his best to get the pinfall while covering up for a badly injured Sting. He was diagnosed with spinal stenosis and eventually left WWE without facing The Undertaker.
