Shawn Michaels and Triple H vs. The Undertaker and Kane had no business headlining Crown Jewel 2018. This Attitude Era dream match needed to stay in the Attitude Era.

On top of this, the event may go down as one of WWE’s greatest failures for a few reasons notwithstanding the subpar legends’ main event tag team match. Crown Jewel was already marred in political controversy and was boycotted by two of its own top stars. Overshadowing the main event was WWE putting on the event despite Saudi Arabia’s issues with human rights violations and controversy surrounding the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi. As a result, Daniel Bryan and John Cena refused to work the show.

Despite all that was overshadowing the DX vs. Brothers of Destruction main event, it didn’t stop critics from rightfully blitzing it with bad reviews. Chris Jericho said it was the worst match ever and shouldn’t have been booked in the first place. There were also pleas for the four legends to stop stealing the spotlight from younger stars by fooling themselves into thinking that they can still deliver main event calibre matches.
