10 Times Egos Ruined Great Wrestling Partnerships

5. Beer Money

Two of the greatest and most successful stars ever turned out by TNA Wrestling, Bobby Roode and James Storm combined to make one of the most memorable and decorated tandems the company had ever promoted. As Beer Money, they waged war with the Motor City Machine Guns in a series of outstanding matches that restored faith in the company's tag team division. Their battles with Team 3D established them as an elite tandem in the company and their hard work and dedication to their craft eventually turned them from dastardly heels to beloved babyfaces. In 2011, the competitors branched out, focusing on singles competition. Roode lost at the Bound for Glory pay-per-view event, his first real opportunity to capture the top prize in the company. It was a heartbreaking defeat at the hands of industry giant Kurt Angle. Just days later, partner Storm captured the title in the biggest win of his career. Always more charismatic than his partner, Storm's victory was met with great applause and excitement from TNA fans. Unfortunately, Roode was not as welcoming as the audience. He feigned support of Storm, who was quick to grant his partner a title shot. Roode, in a shocking moment of greed, blasted Storm over the head with a beer bottle and brought his reign atop the TNA mountain to a disappointing and shocking conclusion. The days of tag team dominance were over, as was Beer Money, all because Roode's desperation for championship accolades fueled him more than friendship ever did.
