10 Times Fighters Used Their Signature Move In A Movie
7. Cung Le - Bodyguards And Assassins
Much like Randy Couture, Cung Le's mixed martial arts career may have been even more successful if he had taken up the sport from an earlier age.
Despite making his debut in the cage while in his 30s, Le earned some serious accolades during his short career, winning the Strikeforce Middleweight Championship, and going on to earn a 2-2 record in the UFC including wins over Patrick Cote and Rich Franklin before retiring in 2014.
Of all the fighters on this list, it is arguable that Le's style is the most well-suited to be featured in film. After all, Le was a world champion in the Chinese art of Sanshou, that was utilised in many of the classic martial arts movies of the 1970s.
Le has since gone on to star in several martial arts-themed movies, including featuring as Marshall Law in the live-action Tekken movie in 2009 and appearing in the 2013 Hong Kong film based on the life of the legendary Wing Chun master Ip Man.
In the 2009 film Bodyguards and Assassins, Le engages in a fight with legendary martial arts actor Donnie Yen, in which he showcases both his signature diverse kicking game and wrestling-based slams that brought him so much success as a Sanshou fighter.
