10 Times Hulk Hogan Was The Worst Babyface Ever

Hulk Hogan? Stealing somebody else's spotlight? Never...

The Hulkster has famously made a career, brother, out of forever hogging other people's spotlight. At so many points in time, Hogan has craved the glitz and the bright lights so badly that he's done whatever he could to take the shine off of other people's biggest moments.

Arguably the person who suffered from this the most was 'Macho Man' Randy Savage.

Back in the formative years of WrestleMania, it was near-impossible for any other babyface to have the opportunity to shine at the top of the card due to Hulkamania running wild. For Randy Savage, he went into WrestleMania IV as a babyface with huge momentum behind him - so much so, he would ultimately emerge victorious in that Mania's tournament to crown a new WWF Champion.

The right way to have closed out WrestleMania that year would have been for Savage and Miss Elizabeth to be standing tall with the WWF Title in their grasp. And while this pair did indeed get to do that, they unfortunately had Hulk Hogan around as a third wheel.

In a narrative sense, Hogan had come to ringside to ward off interference from Andre the Giant on Ted DiBiase's behalf. In reality, Hulk laid out DiBiase with a chair, allowing Savage to get the pin following his patented Elbow Drop.

For many watching, this left a bad taste in the mouth, as it made it look as if Macho Man only beat DiBiase due to Hogan's help - made worse by Hulk taking the limelight of the victory by parading around in the ring to celebrate post-match.

And you wonder why the 'heel' Savage had so many supporters during his feud with Hogan over the ensuing 18 months.
