10 TIMES John Cena Buried The Miz

5. Chamber Of Horrors

The Miz John Cena
WWE

John Cena was still clinging onto his reputation as a super-worker when he walked into 2017 Elimination Chamber off the back of dethroning AJ Styles for his record-setting 16th WWE Title. His abuse of The Miz foreshadowed how the rest of his year would go when he walked out.

Miz had opportunistically scored a fall over Dean Ambrose after Baron Corbin's post-elimination tantrum left 'The Lunatic Fringe' vulnerable, but Cena quickly put the 'A Lister' back in his box (if not his pod). After token offence on remaining entrants Bray Wyatt, AJ Styles and 'Big Match John' himself, Cena completely no-sold a flying cross-body to power up and put Miz away with an Attitude Adjustment.

With all the snark of a passive aggressive partner in a lover's tiff, Cena held the allegedly fresh Miz in his fireman's carry whilst mugging to the camera before dropping him flat. He barely lingered long enough on a lazy cover to register the three.

Cena was losing the title that night, and perhaps realised such a laissez-faire attitude early on would blunt the impact of the larger defeat that later followed. Miz was again his sacrificial lamb of choice. It's a good job the pair didn't suddenly have to be competitive...
