Kane's unmasking was a huge storyline. The character only wore a mask since he debuted in 1997, so after nearly six years he was finally unmasked in June 2003. What that did was it allowed WWE to book him like a lunatic again so that's what happened on the June 30, 2003 edition of Raw. A World Title match between Triple H and Rob Van Dam ended up by the top of the ramp. Triple H won with a DDT at the top of the ramp because it was Falls Count Anywhere. As soon as the match was over, Kane's music hit and he emerged with no hair along with a towel on his head. Everybody was scared of him because they had no idea what he might do. It looked like Kane was going for former partner Rob Van Dam, but instead he went for Raw GM Eric Bischoff. It was one of the most brutal chokeslams in the history of wrestling. Kane picked up Bischoff, tossed him off the side of the ramp and it looked like Bischoff landed hard on his head. It wasn't an easy, flat back bump for him. It looked vicious. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DdTc_b26fI0 It was one of the more vicious attacks in Kane's career and the way that bump looked only added to Kane's character as something of a madman that would do anything to hurt anybody, even a non-wrestler and authority figure like Bischoff.
