10 Times Shawn Michaels Lost Clean

5. vs. Kurt Angle (WrestleMania 21)

Earlier in 2005, Shawn Michaels went about his business in an altogether different way. When Kurt Angle started to show just how much of a wrestling machine he was in 2000, less than a year after his in-ring debut, a lot of fans started to wonder what it might have been like to see him match up against the likes of Bret Hart, Randy Savage and Shawn Michaels. The latter part of that wish would be fulfilled at WrestleMania 21, as a rejuvenated HBK locked horns with the ever-impressive Olympic Gold Medal winner. The results speak for themselves, there are still fans who wax lyrical about how great a showdown this was, and it's a testament to how brilliant both men are as performers that they didn't even need a title on the line to help tell the story. One of the greatest proponents of the art of selling in grappling, Michaels sold brilliantly for his opponent, eventually going down via submission. This was one hell of a feather in the cap of Angle, defeating a legend such as Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania, and would arguably prove to be one of his last big WWE moments before departing for TNA the following year.
