Probably the most recent example of a sports star getting involved with the WWE wasnt even a face-to-face confrontation. This past week, Manchester United defeated Preston North End in the FA Cupbut not without controversy. United captain Wayne Rooney was alleged to have dived in order to win the penalty which he later converted to seal the tie for his side. Bad News Barrett, a Preston native, was clearly none too pleased at this. He took to Twitter to poke fun at Rooney, before threatening him with his patented Bull Hammer Elbow. Ever the good sport, Rooney played up to Barrett by warning him hed get Stone Cold Steve Austin himself to come out of retirement and put Barrett in his place. This led to calls for everyones dream match-up to finally become a realityWayne Rooney & Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. Bad News Barrett and Preston striker Kevin Davies. Great to see Rooney getting involved with the fun, but given he and Davies disciplinary records, that match could actually be quite the slobberknocker
