10 Times The Independent Scene Met The WWE Machine

A bit of a strange one this. To the best of my knowledge, I can't really remember a single Dean Ambrose match in World Wrestling Entertainment that I would describe as being 'great'. Well, at least one that didn't come against another former independent stand-out. The closest one gets in this form is his match with the Eater of Worlds, Bray Wyatt, at WWE TLC in 2014 - sorry, I meant WWE TLC&S.

The feud between Ambrose and Wyatt was more than a little hokey at times, but the brawls between the two generally hit the spot when they stuck to the straight and narrow. This Tables, Ladders & Chairs match was the main event of the show and was a heck of a lot of fun, as long as try to forget the whole 'exploding TV monitor' thing that led to the finish (so please, don't look at the picture for this entry).

Ambrose worked his way to the WWE through CZW, FIP, Dragon Gate USA and a whole host of other independent promotions. Wyatt was born into wrestling royalty (kind of), the son of Mike Rotunda (IRS), and went straight into the WWE system out of university.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
