10 Times The Main Event Was The Worst Match On A WWE Show
5. Triple H Vs Undertaker (Super Show-Down 2018)
The Game and The Phenom were once more than capable of having a great match.
Between WrestleManias XVII and XXVIII they put on a scorching trilogy of old-school clashes, and were in and out of one another’s storylines through the Attitude Era and beyond. The operative word, then, is “were”, because by 2018, they sadly were incapable of reigniting the fire.
At a combined age of 100 and change, it’s hard to argue the two should be locking up at all, let alone doing almost half an hour to close a big show in Australia. The two vets are ring rust personified, blowing up early and then working the rest of the match at a snail’s pace.
It’s the definition of a vanity project, and there are no prizes for guessing who’s the vainest of them all when HHH manages to get one of his wins back in front of the colossal Melbourne crowd. There’s an argument to be made that the underserved Aussie audience would be thrilled to see the legends return - well, not like this, and not to close the show.
