10 Times The PPV After WrestleMania Was Better

7. Backlash (2007)

This Batista Spear on The Undertaker off the stage single handedly topped almost anything that happened at WrestleMania XXIII. Yes, seeing Vince getting his head shaved was funny but quite literally none of the other matches produced anything worth writing home about. We were forced to sit through a number of generic matches that offered nothing new or remotely compelling. I suppose seeing the ECW originals on the grandest stage of them all was pretty cool, but the novelty of that soon wore off after The Great Khali and Kane's bowling shoe ugly bout. Every single match at 2007's Backlash meant something. Every single title, from the Women's to the WWE Championship, was on the line. Even the ECW title made an appearance in Bobby Lashley's handicap match against Vince, Shane and Umaga. The combination between pure wrestling and gimmick match types hit the nail on the head when it came to appealing to every possible demographic. Great booking.
