The John Cena example shouldn't have come as a surprise to anyone in 2006. One year prior, Triple H had went above and beyond to make Batista before turning his attention towards Vince McMahon's poster boy champion. At WrestleMania 21, he put his old Evolution cohort over in the main event too.

For those keeping score, that'd be three consecutive 'Mania main events (XX, 21 and 22) for Hunter that elevated other wrestlers. The difference here is that Triple H wasn't working with a seasoned veteran like Chris Benoit; Batista was a comparative rookie, but he didn't look like one when Trips was bouncing around the ring for him.

By the time both men reached their Hell In A Cell cracker at Vengeance in July 2005, WWE fans had accepted Batista as a full-time headliner they could get behind. His star-making wins over Triple H should not be overlooked or forgotten.

Batista still credits his old friend for helping him to this day.
