10 Times Triple H Lost At WrestleMania

6. Batista - WrestleMania 21

When the next WrestleMania season came around, Triple H was back as the World Heavyweight Champion. This time around, he was latching on to the insane popularity of his understudy Batista. The audience had made Batista a star, willing him to turn on his wicked master. It was a classic mentor versus apprentice storyline, one which had originally been pencilled for Randy Orton, before he tanked as a good guy. When Batista eventually turned on The Game, it set up one of the most anticipated 'Mania main events in history. Hunter had lucked in on that rarest of things - a genuine, emotive storyline. Because of the nature of the programme, there could only be one ending: Batista going over clean with the Batista Bomb. But, as in 2004, Triple H was content in knowing that he'd get the credit for making a star. It was like a victory in itself, he did the job, but he made a franchise. As for the match, it was merely average.
