When it became clear that Shawn Michaels was coming back into the WWE mix, a routine storyline started which had Triple H attempting to convince his long time buddy to join up with him on Raw and re-form D-Generation X. On the flipside, Smackdown also wanted HBK's services, and a bidding war of sorts started between both brands to capture his contract. Michaels had spent a few months in an incarnation of the nWo, but that was largely ignored in favour of looking at his previous WWF run, where he and Triple H had ruled the roost shortly before Shawn was forced to step away from the ring due to injuries. Unthinkably, when the pair were hamming it up as DX on Raw, Triple H would turn on his buddy, nailing him with a Pedigree. This would lead to an exciting 'Unsanctioned' match between both men at Summerslam 2002, and it'd prove to everyone - including Shawn Michaels himself - that HBK had a lot left in the tank. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2jclzd_triple-h-vs-shawn-michaels-wwe-summerslam-2002_sport The end of the match would come when Michaels rolled through on a Pedigree attempt, pinning Triple H, who would then brutally attack him with an array of sledgehammer shots post-match, continuing the feud as a result. What a classic confrontation, one which must surely rank as one of the most notable losses in the career of HHH.
