8. NXT & Hiring Indie Darlings
CM Punk took shots at Triple H during their 'worked shoot' feud in 2011. Punk intimated that Triple H thought that 'a guy that looked like' Punk shouldn't be in the ring with a 'guy that looked like' Triple H and claimed that Triple H hate a bodybuilding fetish. There may have been some truth to what Punk said, since Triple H criticised Punk's physique and size in a series of rebuttals. Triple H is a lifelong bodybuilding fan. Everyone knows this. Hell, he even wrote a book on bodybuilding in 2004 titled 'Making The Game: Triple H's Approach To A Better Body'. So yes, Triple H does like guys with huge, chiselled physiques. This is the stereotypical wrestler look but, in the Wellness Policy era it is becoming less and less common. Realising that the times have changed and that fans are attracted to smaller yet talented wrestlers like Daniel Bryan, Triple H has (with the help of William Regal) scoured the indie scene looking for the best wrestling talent in the world to sign to Triple H's pet project NXT. Triple H has not only recruited but also befriended wrestlers like Finn Bálor, Adrian Neville, Hideo Itama, Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens. Triple H is working extremely hard to make NXT the success that it is and he is choosing to push the smaller wrestlers with indie and Japanese reputations ahead of the football players and bodybuilders that are also training in the performance centre.
