10 Times UFC Fighters Won In Defeat
1. Ronda Rousey (Vs. Amanda Nunes, UFC 207)
Ronda Rousey may not have realised it at the time, but her one-sided loss at the hands of Bantamweight Champion Amanda Nunes at UFC 207 was most certainly a blessing in disguise for the former champ.
'The Baddest Woman on the Planet' had been the unstoppable standard-bearer in the division ever since she stepped foot into the UFC. She was the poster girl and she headlined sold out PPVs like it was nothing.
Nothing lasts forever, though, and it wasn't long before the competition started to catch up and by late 2015 they'd done just that.
Holly Holm took the belt from Rousey in emphatic fashion at UFC 193 via sickening head kick and this forced Rousey to take a year off to reassess her career plan.
Returning at UFC 207 to take on current Bantamweight Champion Amanda Nunes, Rousey seemed focussed on doing all she could to reclaim her crown. Nunes had other ideas and put Rousey away in under a minute.
This shocking second defeat in a row forced Rousey to back away from a sport that was quickly evolving and instead she turned her attention back to starring in films and working as a wrestler in WWE.
Nunes' humbling of Rousey changed her life for the better. Now she no longer has to put herself through gruelling fight camps and barbaric contests in order to put food on her table. Instead she is enjoying her life as a wrestler/actor/YouTuber.
It may not have been part of the plan, but you definitely have to look at that loss as a solid life win for one of the most influential stars the UFC has ever seen.
