10 Times UFC Fighters Won In Defeat
4. Dominick Reyes (Vs. Jon Jones, UFC 247)
Fast forward nearly seven years and not much has changed.
Jon Jones is still your unstoppable UFC Light Heavyweight Champion and young talents are still establishing themselves as modern stars by forcing him to go the distance.
Dominick Reyes was the most recent young lion to give Jones' title reign a scare at UFC 247, when he quite clearly dominated the champ in the first two rounds before contesting a fairly even third and narrowly losing the final two rounds to the experienced veteran.
Reyes had been brash and full of self confidence in the lead up to the bout, yet Jones defiantly claimed that he could see straight through his challenger's facade and would teach him a lesson on the night.
However, when it came to the clash itself, many believed that Reyes was the competitor who should have had his arm raised at the conclusion of the title contest.
In the end though, Jones was awarded the unanimous decision victory and did enough in the bout to keep hold of his belt.
That being said, Reyes' spirited performance and ability to handle this high pressure situation on the first time of asking, all but guaranteed that he would be in line for another title shot at some point in the near future.
Not many stars can look this good and cement themselves as a contender in defeat, but that's exactly what Reyes did when he took 'Bones' to the limit back in February 2020.
