10 Times Vince McMahon Got Tired Of Playing With His New Toys
8. Constable Corbin
In 2018 December, WWE tuned in to what the fans were saying (or maybe the shareholders and sponsors?) after months of outcry and began to address the rating slump and the critical reviews of the overall product.
What was WWE to do? Go out there as Vince McMahon did in the 1990s to formally launch the Attitude Era, admitting WWE's previous cartoonish presentation often insulted their fans' intelligence? Would the higher-ups concede to losing their direction?
Of course not. Seth Rollins cut a promo early in December (that came along an infinite "Burn It Down" loop) that pointed the finger at the 'Constable.' The McMahon family themselves also blamed Corbin for all of their ratings and creative woes.
Outside of being unlikeable, there was little chance a single performer was to be charged for WWE's blunders. Nevertheless, that was what happened when the McMahons used him as a public scapegoat.
Although Corbin still regularly appears on WWE programming, he is no longer a prime focus of the product as he was then. He now lingers around the mid and upper-midcard unless called upon to be a temporary, yet formidable, foe to a rising main eventer.
