10 Times Vince McMahon Got Tired Of Playing With His New Toys
7. Rusev
Going back to 2014, it would have been difficult to predict Rusev would end up collecting dust in Vince McMahon's Old Toy Chest, but that was exactly what happened.
Starting with his debut, Rusev and Lana regularly appeared on WWE programming to degrade competitors and share their disgust for the United States. Week after week, Rusev squashed challengers with The Accolade. By the spring of 2015, 'The Bulgarian Brute' was a made man. Not only did he remain undefeated the entire year, but he also held the United States Championship.
Who was ever going to take down Rusev and quieten 'The Ravishing Russian?'
John Cena, of course. Leading up to WrestleMania 31, Cena made it clear he not only wanted to be the first to defeat the Russian heel, but he also wanted to reclaim the US title in the name of America.
Despite arriving at 'Mania in a freaking tank, Rusev still counted the lights for WWE's poster boy.
His career was never the same, Rusev failed to remain a staple of even the midcard. Lana's accent was taken away, as well as her managerial services. Every time Rusev got over, as was the case with Rusev Day, the brass ring was lifted higher.
Before heading for greener pastures in 2020, Rusev was in an aimless feud with Bobby Lashley and Lana. The storyline was often changed and then changed again by the next week. Once Rusev was gone, WWE threw away the story anyway, including Lana's marriage to Lashley.
