10 Times Vince McMahon Got Tired Of Playing With His New Toys
4. Ryback
In 2012, Ryan Reeves convincingly returned to WWE under the new name of Ryback. This new character defeated local and lower card talents for weeks and soon demanded tougher challengers. His resemblance to Goldberg took centre stage with fans as WWE tried to push Ryback. Chants of "Golberg" echoed throughout arenas, often detracting from his matches. Nonetheless, WWE kept the fire burning, and before long, he was in a feud with CM Punk, Mr McMahon, and John Cena.
Ryback's direction seemed to be the moon, as Cena stepped aside to let the emerging musclehead have a shot at the WWE Championship. But that was when things took a turn for the worst.
In a screwy finish, referee Brad Maddox cost Ryback his biggest opportunity when he helped CM Punk leave Hell in a Cell with the strap. From there, Ryback never quite regained his footing.
At WrestleMania 29, Ryback suffered an embarrassing loss to Mark Henry by losing control of Shell Shocked. What was more bizarre was that, although Ryback couldn't lift 'The World's Strongest Man' up for his finish move, he could apply Shell Shocked to Henry afterwards.
Ryback then floundered alongside Curtis Axel as they failed to win the Tag Team Championships. By WrestleMania 32, Ryback was doing the job for the likes of Kalisto... during the preshow. He never recovered, and in 2016, Reeves was released from his contract without realizing his full potential, something which he's publicly fumed over ever since.
