To Vince and WWE, anything is fair game and can be exploited and there are no taboos too controversial to incorporate into story lines. Well, that was before WWE went PG, but you get the point. You only need to watch one episode of Raw during the Attitude Era to witness the company's shameless exploitation. Oftentimes, such as when WWE exploits a real-life war or something equally as tragic or distasteful, they will let the company know about it. There are some things that just shouldn't be used for the sole purpose of generating heat or creating headlines. On top of the list is the exploitation of a former employee who has just died in his 30s while still working for the company. Eddie Guerrero was one of the most beloved WWE superstars of all time. Latino Heat had his demons, which were well-documented, but came stronger than ever after hitting rock bottom in 2001. Eddie was a changed man when he returned in April 2002 and was in the prime of his career, doing some of his best ever work. Those classic matches came at a price, however: by the time of his death, Eddie was in such pain that he had not been able to sleep properly in two weeks. Eddie's back, hips, shoulders and other joints and muscles were in absolute agony. Eddie had beat his body up for the company and died of a heart attack at 38. In the aftermath of Eddie's death, WWE paid tribute to him with a series of emotional tribute shows. Rey Mysterio received a well-deserved push. Eddie was inducted into the Hall of Fame. Which was all well and good. But then things took a dramatic turn for the worse and WWE began exploitation Eddie's death in order to gain cheap heat. Randy Orton claimed that Eddie was in hell and blew up his lowrider. Then Rey and Chavo engaged in an awful feud over Rey's supposed leeching off of Eddie's name and legacy. It was not the correct way to keep Eddie's name alive. In fact, it was completely repulsive. Fans didn't watch WWE TV to hear the company drag the name of one of its legends through the mud. It was not only a huge f*** you to the fans, but Eddie's family and friends, too.
