10 Times Vince McMahon Was The World's Strangest Boss

4. A Nasty History With Abuse Victims

Corporate World: Employees should be sanctioned for criminal conduct in their personal lives. Vince World: I didn't see nothin' officer. The official WWE policy on domestic abuse was revised in 2014 to state that anyone arrested for such an offense would be immediately suspended and terminated in the case of a conviction. That is really good news considering the strange fact that neither Vince nor the company have made official statements on Steve Austin's two domestic assault cases, even when another WWE employee was involved. Austin was arrested in 2002 for abusing his ex-wife Diva Debra Marshall. She told Fox News in 2007 that the WWE not only knew of her abuse, but had put a gag order on her from discussing her ex-husband with the press. She claims even the makeup department would cover her bruises. Marshall believed her silent co-workers were profit hungry, "...everyone else knew this was going on, but no one's going to stop it, because Steve would make millions of dollars for Vince." In 2004, police were called again to Austin's residence, this time to investigate a domestic assault allegation from Austin's ex-girlfriend, Tess Broussard. A happy Vince has appeared as a guest on Austin's podcast and the company continues to put him on video game covers. It's not strange to forgive an employee for making mistakes but sweeping abuse under the rug is not cool.
