10 Times WCW Stuck It To Vince McMahon
9. The Cruiserweight Division Was So Good, McMahon Couldn't Follow
A lot of wrestling fans generally agree that Eric Bischoff spotted the great work guys like Juventud Guerrera and Rey Mysterio were doing in ECW, and wanted some of that action in his promotion. According to Bischoff, he was interested in more high-flying wrestlers after WCW's co-promotion with AAA, the 'When Worlds Collide' Pay-Per-View in 1994.
Whatever the case, Bischoff put together one hell of a WCW Cruiserweight division, and the title quickly became meaningful. Looking to get a slice of that for himself, Vince McMahon introduced the WWF Light-Heavyweight Division in late-1997. Sadly for McMahon, this new league wasn't nearly as successful as WCW's Cruiserweight branch.
Whilst guys like Taka Michinoku, Scott Taylor and Brian Christopher were jousting it out in the WWF, fans could see world class talent like Dean Malenko, the aforementioned Mysterio and Chris Jericho in WCW. There was no real competition there, WCW's high-flying product was far superior to that in the WWF.
McMahon quickly lost interest in the concept, proving that he wasn't always the best as promoting everything wrestling has to offer. Bischoff assembled quite the stable of talent, and even though the title had some weird champions (Oklahoma), the Cruiserweight Title is regarded as one of the best things about WCW.
