10 Times WCW Stuck It To Vince McMahon

3. Made Hulk Hogan Relevant Again

When Hulk Hogan made the decision to re-enter the world of pro wrestling in 1994, it wasn't with the WWF. WCW were the ones who convinced The Hulkster to put pen to paper on a new contract, and the general consensus within the company at the time was that Hogan would help take them to the top of the industry.

That would end up happening, but not whilst Hulk was still doing the same old red and yellow babyface act he had earlier perfected in the WWF. It was only really when Hogan turned heel and helped form the New World Order that things really started to heat up. After all, this was unthinkable, Hogan had been babyface for so long than nobody even considered him turning his back on fans.

At the Bash At The Beach 1996 Pay-Per-View, that's exactly what happened. Shortly after he dropped a leg on Randy Savage and cut an impassioned speech criticising the fans, 'Hollywood' Hogan was born. Almost overnight, the name Hulk Hogan was relevant again. Hogan had been hearing jeers from crowds since his WCW debut, but his heel switch directly achieved what Vince McMahon couldn't do, making Hogan a huge money-maker in the 90's.
