One week before the WWF presented WrestleMania 13, WCW produced Uncensored 1997 on March 16th of that year. In the main event, 'Team nWo' met 'Team Piper' and 'Team WCW' in a colossal 11-man showdown. Kevin Nash, Hollywood Hogan, Scott Hall and Randy Savage made up the nWo squad, and they had NBA star Dennis Rodman in their corner.

By contrast, 'Mania 13 featured The Undertaker vs. Sycho Sid for the WWF Heavyweight Title, as well as a thrilling 'Submission Match' between Bret Hart and Steve Austin. In perhaps the only other notable scrap from the WCW PPV, Dean Malenko faced Eddie Guerrero in a well-received match for the US Title.

In truth, aside from the Malenko vs. Guerrero bout, a lot of fans point to WrestleMania as the better show. Despite any critical acclaim leaning towards the WWF (who have Austin and Hart to thank for that), Uncensored pulled in a bigger buyrate.

The number was 0.89, more than WrestleMania's 0.77, which must have come as quite the blow to Vince McMahon. 'Mania is his promotion's biggest show of the year, but a 'B' Pay-Per-View put on by WCW trounced it.
