10 Times WCW Was The Best Wrestling In The World

By all accounts, Paul Heyman's ECW promotion should be credited with giving light-heavyweights the first legitimate platform to perform in North America. That being said, Eric Bischoff's vision was what truly perfected it.
Seeing an influx of young, impressive talent from across the world, Eric Bischoff assembled the Cruiserweight Division: a lightweight wrestling division that to this day could be considered as the single greatest assembly of talent in wrestling history. Cherry picking the likes of Chris Jericho, Rey Mysterio, Eddie Guerrero, Chris Benoit, Dean Malenko, Ultimo Dragon, and others, the depth of the division was otherworldly.
From there, Bischoff simply stepped to the side and let these gifted men do what they did best: steal the show. The Cruiserweights were often slotted early into the card. Their blistering speed, dazzling aerial acumen, and breathtaking matches captivated audiences, setting a red-hot tone for shows that would often be carried through the show.
Through sheer match quality, the prestige of the Cruiserweight title was enough to rival any championship in the company. Audience members going to a WCW show knew they'd be getting a full variety from the company thanks to the division. Supporting the main event star power with unforgettable classics on the undercard was a blueprint for success.
