Boy, Shawn Michaels vacated a lot of championships in his life. One such occasion came in October 1995, as HBK dropped the Intercontinental Championship via forfeit at In Your House 4: The Great White North. Michaels had been the victim of an assault outside a nightclub, and as a result wasn't medically cleared to compete.

Initially it seemed as though the wrestler benefiting from Michaels' extra-curricular activities would be Dean Douglas, as the man better known as Shane became Intercontinental Champion without having to take off his robe. Shane Douglas was a true rising star in pro wrestling at the time, and some were whole-heartedly in favour of the move.

All of which meant nothing just 15 minutes later as Razor Ramon defeated the new champ to become the first ever four-time Intercontinental Champion. Well, I say 'defeated'; the finish was a shambles as both men's shoulders were down on the mat and Douglas' leg was under the rope. Awful.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
