10 Times Wrestlers Brought Old Gimmicks Back (For One Night Only)

8. Santina Marella (Royal Rumble 2020)

At WrestleMania 25, Santina Marella effectively killed women's wrestling in WWE dead by winning a battle royale made to celebrate it's history.

The gimmick of Santina Marella came about after Santino Marella was upset that he couldn't enter the match for the opportunity to be crowned Miss WrestleMania. This caused him to enter in drag, parading as his identical twin sister, and win the bout last eliminating Beth Phoenix.

He continued the gimmick, mostly in comedy matches with Vickie Guerrero before being fired from Raw by Donald Trump. Thankfully, Santino continued his run becoming something of a reliable comedy act for the next few years, winning the Tag Team and United States gold before a neck injury put him into semi-retirement.

He would make a couple of appearances in the following years before resurrecting Santina Marella from the grave in the 2020 Women's Royal Rumble match as entry 29. Obviously, in an effort to rectify the sins of the past, and considering women's wrestling was near-enough on par with their male counterparts, Santina eliminated herself with the Cobra.
