10 Times Wrestlers Couldn’t Hide What They Were Doing

1. Jerry Lawler Hides Stone Cold Steve Austin's Blade - No Way Out 2001

'The Rattlesnake' needed to pop a gusher in order to illustrate the life literally draining out of him during his 'Three Stages Of Hell' clash with Triple H at No Way Out 2001, but he very nearly left the literal secret weapon on show for all to see after making the crucial cut.

Amidst the mayhem of the ringside carnage, Austin's blade was suddenly in full few of a camera looking otherwise for the splatters of blood all over the glossy white surface. Showing tremendous instincts for that - and indeed the industry's old secrets in general - commentator Jerry 'The King' Lawler put his hand across the offending item.

The match went at such a pace that the wrestlers and the action moved on from the moment quick enough too, but there's a real charm to these moments when spotted many years after the fact (as this one was by WhatCulture's own Phil Chambers). Far from breaking the immersion, they show the tricks of an intricate and idiosyncratic trade, and the deft skill that goes into this stuff not being seen every time, let alone on odd ocasions such as this.
