10 Times Wrestlers Quit Before Major PPVs
2. Ultimate Warrior (WWF In Your House 9: International Incident)
The Ultimate Warrior once again pops up on this list for quitting on the WWF right before a scheduled match at a pay-per-view.
A few weeks before In Your House 9: International Incident, Warrior quit the entire organization, not returning until 2014 for his Hall of Fame induction.
The match that was supposed to headline the event that the WWF built storylines and vignettes around were the villainous Camp Cornette team of The British Bulldog, Owen Hart and Vader (accompanied by Jim Cornette) vs. ‘The People’s Posse’ of WWF Champion Shawn Michaels, Intercontinental Champion Ahmed Johnson and The Ultimate Warrior. The god-awful names for the teams should tell you exactly why the WWF was labelled as desperately uncool in the mid-90s compared to what was happening weekly on WCW Monday Nitro.
The WWF had to bring in Sycho Sid (after months of absence) to replace Warrior for In Your House 9, turning him babyface in the process. Camp Cornette would win. Good thing for the WWF, as Corny himself commented on TV before the event if Camp Cornette lost anyone who ordered the PPV would get their money back.
