10 Times Wrestlers Went Totally Off Script
1. WCW Sucks
This was the second time Scott Steiner had launched into an off-script tirade against one of his wrestling elders, the first of them coming two years earlier when he grabbed the mic to give JJ Dillon a few home truths, as a horrified Buff Bagwell watched on.
In February 2000, he restated his belief that WCW "sucked" during a frank promo aimed at Ric Flair, who was described as a pale imitation of original Nature Boy Buddy Rogers, and blamed for the departure of Steve Austin in the mid-'90s.
In fairness, he did manage to steer things back on script in his promo's closing moments, declaring his loyalty to the New World Order, of which he was the leading member now that Hogan and Nash were nowhere to be seen.
Given that Steiner would ultimately struggle to make a splash in WWE after his employers shut up shop a year later, though, you have to question the wisdom of encouraging viewers to switch over to what he implied was a superior product.
