10 Times Wrestlers Were Confronted By THEMSELVES!
4. Sting
The usual practice for when a wrestler is confronted by a purported version of themselves, is for that imposter or alternate to quietly vanish after a month or two. In the case of Jeff Farmer, though, he managed to take another person's gimmick and make an entire career for himself.
Farmer had been in the business since 1991, often as part of the Thunder and Lightning tag team alongside Clark Hainess. While this tandem had toured with All Japan and served as enhancement talent in WCW's tag team division, it was 1996 where Farmer took his stock to a whole other level - which is when he turned up on WCW Nitro under the guise of then-absent Sting.
Initially as 'Surfer' Sting, then as 'Crow' Sting, Farmer went on to become a part of the initial New World Order, nWo Japan, and nWo Hollywood. In fact, this faux Sting actually became more popular than the real thing in Japan - which is why Jeff Farmer ended up spending considerable time wrestling in front of Japanese audiences.
What happened whenever the legitimate Sting would come face-to-face with his doppelganger, then? Why, the real deal would always leave his double lying.
For Jeff Farmer, he would continue to use the nWo Sting name up until his retirement in 2005.
